I'm sure the tradition must go back a long way. Our little Victorian town on the north coast of California celebrated 150 years a couple of years ago. That seems a short time compared to the age of towns in England. My wife and I are hoping to visit England and Scotland in the nsxt couple of years. I am looking forward to seeing the land of my ancestors.
