"What do you mean by "harsh"?  A circular polarizer will reduce certain reflected glare and will sometimes give the sky a deeper blue.  A neutral density filter will let you use a larger aperture or slower shutter speed than would…"

"I would get a circular polarizer to start and then if needed, a graduated ND filter.  The polarizer has the advantage of deepening color by removing reflections.  It will also make clouds stand out much more."

I am an amateur photographer
i like nature photography (landscape and macro mostly)
i like experimenting with different effects
My Photography Equipment:
Canon Rebel T3
Canon 18-55mm wide angle lens
small tripod
(previously had a fujifilm finepix s1800, a lot of my pictures taken with it)
planning on getting a telephoto 70-300mm zoom lens or a macro lens
