50 1.4 is the disputed champ for sure.
Stop that thing down past f/2 and the sharpness if perfectly on par with L glass. I primarily only use it for portraits anymore, as it excels to the maximum.

I tend to disagree that the Signa has worse bokeh than the Canon. The Canon has an 8 blade aperture, whereas the Sigma has 9. They are curved blades on both lenses. More blades means a rounder apertur, resulting in smoother bokeh. The physics of the…
