"...wouldn't intensity equal how much light is flowing rather than aperture?"   It is true that you can adjust light intensity many ways outside the camera.  You could also control it via ND filters, pol filters, etc... on…

"The filling a bucket example is good, but you left out the size of the bucket."   That's ISO.    My point is that learning manual exposure is pretty easy.  I learned it when I was 12.  Thankfully I…

"My profit margin for example on a $1250 wedding after spending time editing, gas, photo processing was about $1150.00."   What about camera and gear costs?  Software?  Office/workspace rent?  Phone and electricity…

I agree, and since the basics of exposure are about as complicated as cooking a frozen pizza there is little excuse not to go ahead and figure it out.   Cooking a frozen pizza = time (how long in oven) x intensity (how hot the…

You can google "photography glossary" for lots of lists of photographic terms and their meanings.   How the 3D world looks converted to a 2D photo is mostly controlled by perspective.  Perspective is controlled by where the…

It looks over exposed to me.  Take test shots.  Learn to read the histogram (it's easy, and there are lots of articles).  It will help you assess your test shots.  From there you can adjust the exposure compensation. …

I think it's important to understand the difference between DPI (or PPI) and resolution.  In Adobe Photoshop just switching PPI to 72 doesn't change the resolution.  You still have to make sure the image is being resampled, and…

hi matt. i have a question that puzzles me. when i import an image into photoshop cs5, the colours are much darker than viewing it from my desktop. it actualy looks much better in photoshop. i must mention that i do not do any editing after import, like colour adjustment etc. i want to save the picture as is in photoshop, but when i do that, and view it on my desktop again, it is much much lighter than in photoshop. have you any ideas for me please. thanks.

Hi Matt, saw one of ur pics was taken with the Sigma 18-50. I have to decide between that and the Tamron 17-50. Have you used them both? If so, how do they compare. Otherwise, what's ur experience with the Sigma?

Hey Matt, Please check out my wedding album and throw me some harsh crit on how and what I should have done. Especialy those dark ones around the pool. I really struggled with the constant changing of distance to the subject and setting the flash at the proper compensation. So some of the image is super bright and some super dark. Holy shit, what a nightmare dude.

Speaking to your question, I have to admit, "Neither," since I don't use either.  I've been using the same PaintShopPro8 since it came out long ago.  PSP does all you ask but facial recognition- and why is that a…
