About Me and My Photography Experience:
I initially fell in love with landscape and fine art photography, but quickly transitioned into portrait and studio work. After a few years of being self taught and not being able to learn enough fast enough to satisfy my appetite I began attending the Brooks Institute of Photography where I studied visual journalism. Now I shoot everything from fine art, to portraits, to weddings and news events.

Lenses:

Max Kalkman replied to Janna Slaback's discussion compare Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Zoom Lens and Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Autofocus Lens
"I think there is a slight mix up here. A f/2.8 lens on a sub full frame body will still function as a f/2.8 lens. It will not end up "being a 4.0 or even higher" lens. What I think the customer service rep was trying to explain was that…"

Max Kalkman replied to dennis sowell's discussion Will buying a New Nikon, D-800/800E, or other upgrade, make me or anyone a Better Photographer? in the group Nikon Users Group
"Yes and no. You are far more likely to see technical imperfections in your work with 36mp. However back in the days of film people had to rely heavily on shooting things and capturing the right exposure in camera rather than falling back on…"

Max Kalkman replied to James Elliott's discussion Windows 8
"I wouldn't touch it. Back in the day (and before I went to Macs, also back when I was a programmer) I installed longhorn and was super excited by it. Honestly I preferred that to OS over XP any day which is sadly not something I can say about…"

"So I had to run and realize now I didn't finish my train of thought. Anyways, about the ISO performance my issue with the 5DII was that from ISO 320 and up there was noticeable color noise. You know those blotchy red green and blue patterns…"

"Im a firm believer there are no dumb questions. And yes. Let me back up a second and somewhat address your other question as well. I originally was using Nikon F bodies (Yes, they are older than me, but I still love them) and so my first DSLR was a…"

"Well if you object to it you could ask them to remove it. Or ask for credit and a link to your site or whatever else you want. I've never had anyone be unwilling to add credit."

"Is there any way you can send the person whose blog it is a message or leave them a comment? Also what course of action you can take is dependent on the context. How was it being used?"

"I'm extremely excited about the D800. My last sentence should explain why. I used to have a 5D II and L lenses but my D700 can capture a lot more detail per image. Also the D700 images hold up better at 24" X 36" print size vs the 5D…"

Max Kalkman replied to Robert Smith's discussion (UK) Which would be more beneficial. Study Photography at university or work my way up from the bottom out of college?
"Hi, I have sort of done both. I began as a hobbyist and began working professionally for about 3 years before attending the Brooks Institute of Photography. In retrospect I wouldn't trade anything in the world for the time I spent studying…"
