Hi Michelle! Thanks for the friend request and the kind words about my photos. I didn't know about the Canon T2i until I read your bio. I will have to look into it myself.
The Canon T2i would be an excellent choice. You can buy that as a kit with the 18-55 lens, or you can buy just the camera body with no lens and then also buy a much better Canon lens of your choice for what you want to photograph. Check out…
I work in floral and interior design and would like to be able to take quality pictures of my work. I love taking pictures and have no formal training or education. I would like to learn photography basics so that I can take professional quality photos.
My Photography Equipment:
I have a point and shoot camera right now and I plan on buying the the Canon Rebel T2i when it comes out.
Michelle I've looked at you art work and its fantastic and well worth photographing. My advice would be to learn how to control light. Looks at how light reflect and how you can control it, look at how to use off camera flashes, torches and candle light so your work is well light. You can find how to make snoots on Utube and they are so cheap to make but so effective to use. Your art work needs to be light from different angles than the camera is looking from and different parts should be light with different intensity. Also you may want to investigate The Hot Shoe diaries by Joe McNalley as reference material.

Another choice would be the Sony Alpha 850 (a850) 24.4 megapixel camera and the Carl Zeis lens 18-70 for it. Super camera, but body is $1900 and lens is about $1600. Something to consider anyway.
The Canon is an excellent choice and it's 18.1 megapixel.
I'm a Nikon shooter myself.
Hi Michelle, I love your photographs! The fact that you have shot such beautiful images proves that you don't need a fancy camera to be a great photographer. You have a very creative way of seeing the world and it's beauty and that is what counts. A better camera will give you more control over how you shoot your photos, but you already have what it takes to be an excellent photographer. Canon makes great cameras, my old film camera is a Canon, but I switched to Olympus because of the quality of their lenses and because I could get more for my money. Whatever you decide, have fun with your new camera!
Best regards, Dan
Thanks for the friend request, Michelle. I have reviewed your work and nice job! Look forward to more and I invite you to join the Daily Challenge group!!
