While perusing the racks at Barnes & Noble recently, I came upon a must-have book for photographers. It is
The Great Life Photographers , produced by Life and published
by Little, Brown and Company. There are hundreds of images packed
into a little more than 600 pages. The reproduction is excellent and
so many of these photographs are gems. …

just wanted to thank you for the thoughtful and helpful comments you made with regards to my sharpness (or lack thereof) issue. much appreciated.
Thank you Mike for your offer of help with LR3. I appreciate it very much. The Adobe book is pretty good and even though I may be an old dog, I should be able to learn some new tricks. When I get the basics figured out, I'll check back with you on the finer points.
Thanks again and best regards,
Dan
I was afraid that's the one you meant. lol
That's why I was looking at the Sigma 30mm.
As soon as I win the lottery maybe. I've got other things on that list though.
I'm in no hurry right now anyway. Gotta' finish building mu new PC first and I have to send my scanner out for warranty repair too now. An I'm really missing that too.
Just thought I'd ask. Which 35mm were you referring to? The 35mm f 1.8G for $199 or one of the others? Are you familiar with the cheaper one? It was small, light weight plastic.
When I shot film, I had the old Nikon 55mm micro with the extension tube and a complete bellows along with the slide duplicator attachment.
I opted for the new AF 60mm G as I was uncomfortable with the mechanical sounds coming from the digital camera and didn't want to hurt it, plus I have glaucoma in both eyes and permanent optic nerve damage in my right, so I wanted the autofocus.
That old 55 micro sure made me a lot of money though.
Ok, that's exactly what I was thinking. I looked at the Nikon 35mm f 1.8G $199 lens and it's cheap plastic.
I don't like the 35mm f2 D, and would be nice to have the $1800 35mm but not likely.
That's why I was looking at the Sigma 30mm, but I see on You Tube, that people are having problems with that.
Just doing my research here, that's all.
Thanks.
Hi Mike
Let me add, I already have the Nikon Micro 60mm f 2.8 G ED.
Wouldn't it be a bit redundant to get the 50mm f 1.4 G?
I kinda' figured that, but thought I'd ask anyway.
I'm shooting a D300 and a D200 and that lens might end up being like a 75mm aprox.
So, I've also been looking at Nikon 35mm and the Sigma 30mm lenses also.
Funny with my film cameras, I almost never used the 50mm, but did occasionally use a 28mm.
Question.
Which Nikon 50mm f 1.4 lens are you using? G or D ?
Thanks....Larry V.V.
