Yes, I would advise looking into Tamrons and Sigmas as cheaper alternatives. I own numerous Canon, Canon L, Sigma, and Tamron lenses, and I've done extensive personal comparisons between them. I will never, ever buy a Canon L lens again without…
KEH camera has the Tamron 17-55mm f/2.8 XR Di II SP. They have them new and used, and the used ones are are in different grades, from "like new" to "bargain". They give you 2 weeks to return the lens, and they require no reason.…
if you want to take shot at low light, either you have to up the ISO or purchase lens that have big aperture. In this case your 50 f1.4 is a very good choice. For lens that are have big aperture, they definitely cost more than the average one. If…
Hi Monica,
Have you tried bouncing your flash using a diffuser reflector of some type.
The least expensive way is to rubber band a 3x5 index card to the back of the flash head which will direct some portion of the light you are bouncing forward to…
Staale! Thanks for that tad bit of information....I am going to try and find a vendor and see about renting a few of these fine Tamron lenses. See what the hype is all about :D Thanks Pic Soc family
Tamron has some models with IS, they call it VC. The 17-50 for example is available in both a VC and a non-VC version. Optically, the Tamron 28-75 and 17-50 are very good indeed, but they have some ergonomic niggles (loud focus motors, non-USM,…
Hi, yes I know. I'm trying to buy one as soon as I can. I saw it has a little bit of distorsion, but I'd buy it over a fish eye any day (just my oppinion)
A lot of pros are saying at the Canon 17-55 f/2.8 IS lens is the best non-L lens Canon makes. What is great about this lens is the optical quality, the IS and USM focusing. When compared to Tamron there is a definite difference, the price.
Another solution might be to upgrade to another body that allows ISO settings beyond 1600. You have a 12 MP sensor which should record fairly clean at 1600 ISO. A 50D @ 15 MP however would boost settings to 12,800 ISO though somewhat grainy. In some…
Silly question perhaps, but why dont' you upgrade to a canons ef-s 10-22 mm? It's an wide angle and for indoor shooting (if I understood your problem correctly) you can get the entire room in focus. It costs approx 650 USD....
Thank you Richard for your recommendations. I do use a diffuser with my flash. After seeing the results first hand, I wouldn't use my flash without it (unless I'm bouncing the flash off the ceiling). I did think about the Canon 17-55mm f…
