About Me and My Photography Experience:
Paul Brooke, Jr. is a photojournalist with an interest in landscape, fashion, portrait, advertising and action photography.
At 23-years-old, Mr. Brooke is still building his portfolio to compete amongst the top photographers in the world for signature collections of places and paths less traveled.
Paul has been traveling his entire life. As a child, he recalls visiting the Leeward Island's of the Caribbean, Northern Polynesia, and many places along the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. When he reached college, the opportunity of a life time passed his way to finally fulfill his dreams of discovering Africa. In May of 2009, Paul traveled to South Africa to study comparative politics. While there, he rediscovered his deep and suppressed calling to be a photographer. It was the experiences while in and around Cape Town, South Africa that shaped his eyes to the beauty of all sorts of life. It is the capture of light that frees us of ignorance and indifference.
My Photography Equipment:
Currently shooting with a Canon 20D with EFS 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses. Mainly shoots off tripod, unless shooting moving objects or long exposures in low light.

Hi Paul, I had the opportunity to look at your photos. The composition of the photos is fantastic. You do have a photographers eye...

I can see that you are still developing skills around getting the exposure and metering. Also, I see some areas of improvement on post-processing your photos..

My favourite photo is .. photo number 2...

My honest and constructive feedback on the rest of the photos is -

photo 1 - I am assuming that your primary subject is the lighthouse and secondary, the sky. If that's the case then the lighthouse comes across really dark. The photo seems to have been taken around sunset and the colours of the horizon look beautiful but limited. If I was you, I would have got up a meter of so to get the horizon in frame but still have the bush in front. And, I would have exposed for longer to get the reflection of sunset light off the lighthouse's left edge. I would also use a nd filter (0.6, I think) to neutralise the bright sky behind the lighthouse.

photo 4 - Absolutely great composition with the wooden track guiding the viewers eye to the lighthouse. Well done! I think you used long exposure... wonder if you had any filter on for the shot.. Looking at the clouds, I am guessing the exposure to be around less then 3rd of a sec. I would have expected more light eventhough you were on the shadow side of the lighthouse. Don't hesitate to shoot directly into the light. In fact, that's the best way of photographing, i.e. to have the subject lit up from behind with natural light.

Hope my comments help. I look forward to seeing more photos from you soon.

I have this lens and love it !!! As far as comparing to the 60mm that'd depend on what you want out of the lens. I bought it as a portrait lens that allows me to play with Macro photography which I had never done. I've shot some flowers…
