Paulo Nunes dos Santos was born in 1977 in a remote village in the northeast of Portugal. In 1998 he moved to Lisbon to study Communication Sciences/Journalism in university, where he became interested in photography.
In recent years, he has traveled and photographed people and places around the world, documenting conflict, current affairs, humanitarian crises and social issues.
Paulo collaborates regularly with several Portuguese media outlets and often publishes his work internationally. His photos have appeared in publications such as The Guardian, The Canberra Times, Expresso, Diário de Notícias, Rádio Renascença, A23 Magazine as well as in a variety of corporate magazines and websites.
Paulo has also undertaken assignments on social issues for organisations such as Landmine Action, Simon Community, Handicap International, Trade Links and The Immigrant Council of Ireland.
He is a member of Gaia Photos, a team of international photojournalists and documentary photographers.
Currently he lives and works as a freelance journalist and photographer in the Republic of Ireland and is available for assignments worldwide.
