"John, I agree with the other posted comments about the horizon line etc. I would also add that I'm not sure what you are trying to capture, is it the sunset or the outdoor area? Because it is framed almost 50/50 one competes against the…"
"While I like both for different reasons I prefer the colour version. The red building against the blue sky creates a stong image. If there were clouds in the sky or it was late in the day then I think the B&W would be more appealing to me.…"
"Hi Melanie, the busy backgrounds detract from the first two shots and the third is not sharp. One of the tricks I have seen recently that really makes skateboarding photos standout is using off camera flash. The idea is to underexpose the…"
"Clifton, as Gary says the main problem is the slight blur probably due to camera movement. You need to use a faster shutter speed which means opening up the aperture, increasing the ISO or using flash. It is important that the eyes are tack…"
"For really vast areas of any landscape another method is to take several shots overlapping each other and stitch them together. Various software is available to do the stitching. I use Photoshop because I alreeady have it and it does the stitching…"
"Yan, you have captured some emotional scenes which is what journalistic photography is all about. I like your processing of these as well. The images with your caption and description make me feel like I was there. Good work and as John says, stay…"
"Erna, I assume that you are processing to get the retro camera / film look that is quite popular at the moment. Generally all of the shots are good with nice use of DoF and framing etc. The only one that does not work in my opinion is the second one…"
"Vee, generally if you want to use a framing technique such as this the frame needs to cover the edges of the shot which in this case would be the top and bottom of the frame. The sky at the top and dark bottom right corner ruin the framing…"
"Rebecca, nice idea to capture yourself taking the photo in the mirror. I'm not sure it completely works with the shallow DOF although I can't pinpoint exactly way I think this. A couple of comments would be the eyes need to be sharper to…"
"John, it is better to ask about a specific photo than a body of work that way you will get a lot more response. Taking a quick look you have some good photo's and others that are more family snaps. A couple of them seem slightly over exposed…"
"Nice photo Mike. The colour in the clouds which is similar to the sand works well and the white caps on the waves has created some good lines to the converging beach and sky. Cheers Philip"
Hi everyone, I recently acquired an iPad 2 and thought about how it could be used in my photography workflow or if it had any real use for photography at all.
First up I bought the camera connector kit so that. I could download photos which is all very straight forward. Having connected the camera and downloaded some shots I immediately see the benefit of 1. Having a backup copy and 2. Being able to view the shots at a reasonable size but then there have been devices to do this for… Continue
