Truncated Frame

I have a Canon 40D which we know does not have a Full Frame because of which the effective focal length of the lens I use gets multiplied by 1.6 times.Somebody please educate me what does one loose in a camera which is not a "Full Frame camera". Alternatively what is the benefit of a full frame camera over a trunctaed frame camera? Does not a higher mega pixel rating off set the apparent loss of pixels in a truncated frame? See More
