25+ years commercial photography. Some years with studios and some as location only. Travel still sparks my creativity, but, the airlines make it tough. My hobbies are travel, scuba diving, great food, cool / interesting people, new music (all types), my backyard jungle and getting into any boat.
My Photography Equipment:
All, everything. Sometimes the highest end digital is needed, but, its more interesting to me to use less than what someone expects. . . like my sony 828. But, at the moment the Canon 5D mark II (21mp) is doing most of the work.
Hi Randy, thank you for the shout out. I have to say your pretty impressive...:) I am also jelouse of your camera...:) I would love the 5D...Maybe one day..:) I am a Advanced Amateur, and love every thing I photo..:) Lets keep intouch!!..:)
Hey Randy, I checked out your web site and I have to tell ya... very impressive stuff there! I can only hope to evolve into a fraction of the photographer you are! I've done some commercial work with local magazines however I haven't had the best of time with 'em. They are VERY demanding and expect everything for nothing or next to nothing. I had a deal worked out with one where we would exchange an ad for my services to the owner/editor. I shot a couple covers, which was great for me! Long story short, I was pretty much her charity case in her eyes and I worked my butt off for little to no pay. She sent me one check for $100 for one of the covers I shot and I got a $68 check for another cover. The straw that broke the camels back was when I went to do a shoot, which I thought was to go along w/a restaurant review, and the owner had me doing other things which he explained were for his ad. I quickly realized, this was a double dip deal! The next month, low and behold... my work was displayed in a two page ad and my name was not even put anywhere! When I addressed the issues I had with her she got really ticked off and stopped working with me. =/ Oh well, it was good while it lasted. I was so excited to be on two covers and have that for stepping stones. Ughh...sorry, I've been so long winded. LOL, not sure why I shared that with you. I guess I said all this to tell you that I admire your patience with commercial folks and realize how hard it is to do what you do. Any advice you may have would be great. =)
21 mp.. WOWZERS! lol... makes me feel so little w/my petty Oly and little to no equipment. Hey there Randy Smith. You have some amazing talent as I'm sure you already know. =)
CameraClickr, I purchased CS5 for about $800. What type of a student do you have to be to get this discount? I'm currently enrolled in School, does that count?
So many things make me happy, hard to choose just two but I would have to say that traveling is a big one for me.
