Dan Tubbs, Jr. said… Hey Rich, thanks for the comments on my latest photos. My neighbor just bought a new OM-D and was telling me about the boat launching ramp in Field's Landing and how he had been seeing a great photo opportunity on his way home from work, so we took a few minutes Sunday evening to take some photos. I know what you mean about Table Bluff. There are a lot of great photos just waiting to be taken. The tree shot was made using my Cokin graduated filter which helped make the sky darker blue. I recently bought a 50mm, f/2.0 macro and made the chess board shot with that. It is a great lens.
Best regards,
Dan

Photos from the western rim really showed the haze. We drove to the Pinnacles east of the lake, but did not have time to hike down and take photos. We plan to take a trip next year and spend a couple of nights at the lodge. That way I can get some sunrise, sunset and night shots. Have a great weekend.
Best regards, Dan
Dan Tubbs, Jr. said… Hi Rich, Thanks for your comments on my "Blowing Sand" photo. That was actually taken a couple of years ago, I happened to find while going through some old files. Lightroom 4 enabled me to make some adjustments to the sky and shadows to make it look better than it did originally. I never could have done it in my old darkroom.
I'm with you regarding the heat inland. I would much rather have the fog in the morning and the sun in the afternoon with a nice breeze. That seems to be our weather pattern here in Ferndale this time of year.
I bought a Cokin filter system and like the way it gives me more control with the graduated filters.
Best regards, Dan
Dan Tubbs, Jr. said… Hi Rich, Thank you for the comments on my covered bridge photo. That was taken last October on our trip to New England. It is located in Old Sturbridge Village, Massachusetts. It is a town of living history that has been restored to how it was in the late 1700's to early 1800's. I have some more photos of an old mill that I am working on. I have over 1,000 images from that trip and am still processing them! That's what happens when you shoot in RAW.
Best regards,
Dan
Dan Tubbs, Jr. said… Hi Rich, Thanks for the comment on "Manned and Unmanned Flight." I worried about the digestive systems of the geese as they were flying over, but it ended up being a perfect day. This is the first year I have been there that it did not rain. It was pretty cold and even my battery holder with both batteries went dead. I got my spares in and by then the weather was warmer.
Best regards, Dan

Dan Tubbs, Jr. said… Hi Rich, Thanks for your kind words regarding "USA 76." I was well braced with my knees while making this shot, and had the IS working. Our boat was bouncing pretty good on the choppy bay, but the bright sunlight allowed a fast shutter speed. The other boat was moving fast, so I did not have time to get many shots off.
Best regards,
Dan
