Here is a good way to get in the ballpark exposure for night shots using a tripod...
use ISO 320 or 640.
Use aperture priority and for sharpest images use an aperture 1-2 stops below the maximum for your lens.
NOTE: The speed at which you want…

Richard, thank you for taking the time to reply to my questions. Very helpful. I'll take your advice on the 7D and try the technique. Just saw your responses.
hi richard! how are you? I feel like I'm talking to myself! :) I dont really know too much history about our name. I do know several Crowes here in Northern Ireland who are not related to me. One of them is also called Richard! I have never seen it spelt without the 'e' here, but I have seen it that way in America such as Sherly Crow.
Hello Richard and Welcome to PictureSocial. Hope you find it an enjoyable place that you can learn and maybe teach others. We do have a Canon User Group. If you are interested, you can find it under the "Groups" tab at the top of the page. Hope to see you there.

Thanks for the comments. This is the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery (Man Fat Sze), there are so many statues, I can not remember against which wall this one was taken or what is the meaning of the sign. Well worth the climb of 431 steps…
