Dalia, I really like this shot.  I think it would go from a good shot, to a great shot if you cleaned up around the edges of the frame.  What appears to be a knee in the lower right corner and the dark block at the top draw my eyes away…

Nice shot!  If a photograph is intended to create an emotional response, this one really does it.  The emotion it evokes is gratitude that I survived all those years on "The Roof".

Rob Bixby replied to HeatherP's discussion '100mm f/2.8 macro vs the 100mm f/2.8L macro' in the group Canon User Group
Heather, from my understanding, the main noticeable difference in the lenses is the build quality.  If you want the much better built lens, the L series glass is the way to go.  If you're not expecting to be in dusty, wet, rugged…

Shiva, I understand, and looking back at it, I agree.  I'm trying to connect with these ladies again and I'll take that into account next time. Thanks.

1.6 sec exposure, ISO 320, f/7.1, off camera flash triggered approximately 1/2 through exposure.  The young lady was spinning lighted hoops in front of a color-lighted fountain.  Camera was on a monopod.  What do you think?

Fireworks settings First - use a tripod!! ISO 100 Aperture f/11 Shutter Speed minimum of 2 seconds, using bulb is better. Use a tripod If you can, use a remote release, this prevents shaking the camera when you press the button. Use either the…

About Me and My Photography Experience:
I've been very interested in photography since I got my Canon AE-1 for Christmas 1979. I wore it out and got a Minolta Maxxum 7000. Then I got my first digital P&S (a Fuji Finepix 1Mp), and progressed through a few different P&S's and then finally got serious and bought my 30D. My wife recently surprised the heck out of me by ordering my new 5D MkII Now I'm serious enough to start getting paid for some of my stuff. I'm hoping to at least make enough to pay for the toys.
My Photography Equipment:
Canon 5D MkII
Canon 30D
Canon 18-55mm kit lens
Canon 28-135mm
Canon 85mm f/1.8
Sigma 70-300mm
Canon 580EXII

Rob, I love these "period" portraits; really nice.  Also, I wish you'd post the photograph of the fish here.  It is truly nice.

I think yours is much more interesting because of the plants. The shots I got are in a small pond in front of a store in Fernandina Beach, FL

Thank you for all your thoughts and I like your ideas, and apperciate the focusing on the subject, I just now really started lookin at comp , and all that stuff it was always about what my eyes thought was beauty thats why in some of my pics it may seem as though there is no central subject its because what I saw as a whole is what I thought was interging, but Im understanding the need to really focus on a spacific subject.

thank you Don, the building was vacant and I was doing a before and after shoot with the designer, when he was looking out the window I managed to get this shot, and then added my own twist on it.
