Your flower show photo has exellent colors, contrast and saturation and good composeition, your photos of the model Heather are essentialy snapshots, fair compositions, skin tones overexposed and details washed out because of overuse of flash which has caused unnatural shadows and loss of detail. Color rendition and saturation is only fair at best. I believe that your camera has a flash that you can reduce the power, so you can use it for fill only, which is a much more pleasing effect. I personally would try to improve the skin tones with whatever digital darkroom you use. Good luck and don't get discouraged, you have the potential to create great photos.
