About Me and My Photography Experience:
Just getting back into photography after being out of it for several years. Recently converted from film to digital. Wow whole new world.
My Photography Equipment:
Sony Alpha 300. Chose the Sony A300 because I was able to use my lenses from my Minolta Maxim 7000 system saving me the huge expense of rebuilding my whole camera system from scratch.
In my bag:
Lens's: 28mm, 50mm, 28-135mm/w macro, 70-210 telephoto, 70-300G telephoto, 18-70 zoom.close up rings and 2X teleconverter. Sony AF58 Flash with wireless feature, kenko extension tubes, +1 to +3 close up lenses.

Glad to see that Minolta's Maximum 7000 made it. I still have mine and works great. I even use a couple of the leses with my Sony A300 which is why I bought a Sony. I just didn't have the moneyto spend  rebuilding my gear…

Stand your ground. If you loose the job then so be it. If the other photographer's work is of less quality then it will be the bride and groom that will regret it in the end. You can't redo a wedding so it will be them that have to live…

Thanks for the info. I too wondered if a lens hood really did serve any great purpose.

I try to do as little editing as possible. Mostly just cropping etc. I try not to photoshop as I believe that if I put it out of my mind that I can just edit the photo to make it look good then I learn to expand and build my skills as opposed to…

Looking for some advice. For a while now I have been looking at replacing my kit lent 18-70 with either the 16-105 or the 16-80. Leaning more towards the 16-105. Any one have some insight or advise in regards to either of these lenses ? You're…

I really like it. I've had it when it was released and no problems so far - "knock on wood."

Positives - The viewfinder is my top love, image quality is excellent and MP size (I do like the 25 Megapixel for cropping), full frame, wider-angle than aps-c sensors like a700, shallow depth of field, the excellent screen on the back gets noticed by my friends all the time, great selection of lenses (was one of the reasons I got it).

Negatives: It's heavy but not more than the competition. It's a clunk loud on the shutter not a clean loud - if that makes sense. So the loudness gets noticed more. However it's only loud when it's silent around you, then people look. Lack of features or support of the lenses and camera from software vendors. I live in a humid environment and the big sensor attracts dust so needs cleaning every 6 months or more (I do it myself and the cover on the sensor is tough enough for careful cleaning). Lack of hardware accessories available for it like wireless strobe triggers etc etc.

Stephen, I don't regret buying the 10-20mm, it really opens up photography for you. I'd go for the f/4-5.6, unless you take a lot of low light pics. As more people join our group you should see what the lens is capable of.

Hello Stephen,
Thanks for your comments on my 'yellow' image. That's turning into one of my more popular images. We were definitely on the outside looking in.
I get to take a group of students back out to that site again in a few weeks, but this time they're going to let us inside a couple of the buildings. I've got mixed feelings about that, kinda spooky, but it should be fun.
