Hi! I'm a real amateur when it comes to photography. I'm very much a "trial and error" kinda guy when it comes to taking shots. I know the basics about framing, lighting and all the rest of it but I think most of my strengths are in making an average photo into a decent one with the power of photoshop!
I'm trying to build my knowledge from the ground up, with a simple point and shoot camera I'm hoping to get to the stage where I will appreciate the features that it is missing before upgrading. I don't want to jump straight in with expensive gear if I'm not going to know how to use it. I'd love a dslr at some point but my photographic experience can't justify the expense at the moment.
Welcome to Picture Social, the site for budding as well as professionals. Both do some amazing work.
Everyone is eager to give advice and criticism when you ask, as well as praise on your great work. There are many groups that you can join like the Canon and Nikon users, and Flower and Plant groups. Take a look around and see where you can fit in. Join as many groups as you like. Learn from observing others works. Participate in areas you like and contribute to discussions. Add a blog, comment on others work on their pages and photos. A sister site is picturecorrect.com where you can see camera reviews and many subjects about photography. Most of all, enjoy these two sites
You were right about the band, punk/heavy metal but with a positive mssg.......or so they say LOL. Thanks for the comments, I did try and make it look gritty. Yes the guy in the white hat is the lead vocalist. These kids surprised me. I was thinking "oh God, gotta shoot a bunch of punk kids with attitudes". They carried themselves very professional and did every stupid thing I threw at them. Afterward (on MySpace) they thanked me for a week. I brought my daughter who is a photographer and 18.**Mental Note: Never bring your teen daughter to a band shoot w/ a bunch of guys :) They couldnt stop flirtig with her...........they were two years younger..........lol
Thanks for the comment. I go through "stints". I just get a craw in my gut and decide I shoot a certain area of photography. Right now its arcitecture because I'm playing w/ HDR stuff. Could you check out the band shots I did. Im doing a CD and the type of music isnt what I listen to so Im not sure if I caught them correctfly photographically.
