Saturday Mornings for my Daughter

Posted on February 18, 2009 at 4:27pm 7 Comments

A few weeks ago, on Saturday morning, I got the chance to travel up to the Tennessee River at Guntersville Alabama. It was a foggy day when I pulled my SUV into a small park located right on this huge lake. A man and daughter happened to be launching a small flat bottom boat apparently to do a little fishing. I walked over to where they were and asked if it would be ok to take a photo of them. About that time the little girl, about 8 years old,… Continue

The Glove

Posted on February 16, 2009 at 4:00pm 2 Comments

I went to the ballpark, no one was there

This glove abandoned without even a care.

I wondered why someone in their haste,

could forget such a glove lying near first base.

Imagine all the fun, the lights and the cheers,

this old glove has seen over the years.

I picked up the glove and placed it on my hand,

the ball in the other, I waved to my fans.

The tag at first had sealed the win,

the team on the… Continue

Thank you Terrence. I enjoy every second I am clicking. I think my brain is a lense in itself. It's a sickness, I say! :) I love the baseball glove picture! My children are in sports and I hope to upload some pictures soon of them. Take care!

Hi Terrence, in the mill picture the sharpest focus and most detail is in the couple, the focus on the mill and the level of detail is less, (focus is slightly softer). When you look at the photo your eye goes to the couple. When doing a landscape everything should be at the same level of sharpness and detail, the LANDSCAPE is the subject, rather than individual objects. In your picture "Roper" the horse and the girl are not on the same plane, one is in front of the other. But the level of detail and focus makes you want to look at them at the same time, that is the definition of distraction. It would have been better if you had the horse coming in from the other side, on the same plane as the girl. Then both objects would make up one subject, one would not be in front of the other. Does this make any sense, I`m afraid I am not a teacher.

Congratulations on your new camera. I am sure you will enjoy it.

I own the 20 D, 40 D and the 5 D II. I love each of them. I have gotten use to the weight I guess. I know others comment about how heavy it is especially with my 100-400mm. :)

I shoot only in raw unless it is for something that I really do not need a large file. Once you get use to what you can do with raw, you will never go back.
