I just knew you might be in danger. However, we serve a big and a good God who always looks out for the welfare of his children; you are one. Have faith in God, He is the only one that can get you through this safely and he is always interested in your well being.

Yes, definitly get the D7000. It's a whole new camera, sensor and processor for you.
Keep the D40 for a backup camera body.
I've been watching computer tech tips on uTube to learn about certain PC parts, etc, and have found out that they are shooting them in Hi-Def using the Nikon D7000 and the Canon T2i, and the videos are very good. Makes me almost want one too.
