What I do is copy the main layer (CTRL+J), then Desaturate the new layer (CTRL+SHIFT+U), then Fade (CTRL+SHIFT+F) the Fade window pops-up then you just change the Mode to "Color" and adjust the "Opacity" slider to your liking.…

That's great....only problem, I don't know how to do it in CS2! Can you give me a quick little "CS2 for a dummy" lesson on it? I'd appreciate any help you could give me! Dianne

Yeah, I have to agree! I like how you've just slightly "tweaked" the colors...I think it gives it a little more depth. Really great shot, makes me want to be there!!!

About Me and My Photography Experience:
Just starting out with the photography, and I really want ot learn how to take the shots that will make people say "WOW, what a great photo!"

I am currently the one saying "WOW, what a great photo, I wish I could get shots like that!" So I desperately want to learn all the little tricks.

I prefer not to have to take a photography course, I would rather learn from people who actually do....

I am an artist, and I love working in different mediums, and I feel this is yet another medium to conquer....so that's what I would like to do and I am hoping that all of you can help me achieve that!!

I look forward and welcome ALL comments, positive, negative or border. That's the only way we can learn.
My Photography Equipment:
Right now just a simple point and shoot Kodak Z740. Hoping to upgrade to either a Canon Rebel or a Nikon DSLR by summertime!

Hi
I have a fisheye, and a rectilinear wide angle. They are fun for architecture and environmental portrait, but not all around lenses :-)
A zoom 18-70(80) would be the best travel lens, but pixel quality is slightly worse than with a prime lens. If you can buy a lens with image stabilisation, it's better. It really works and you gain about 2 stops.
Good model for a travel lens could be:
Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4.5 DC Macro HSM/18-125mm F3.8-5.6 DC OS HSM
Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM/EF-S 17-85MM f4-5.6 IS USM
The best thing is reading the reviews and test online. That really helps to choose the best lens for you.
Cheers
Luigi

If I can give you a suggestion :-) if you want to upgrade to a Canon, have a look at the Canon 450D. It's a like a 50D but smaller, lighter and cheaper. Nice camera for prosumers. And learn how to use Photoshop. That's critical for the WoW effect in digital photography now, any kind of pics you take.

Thanks Dianne, now I'm blushing :D
I have been doing this for 2 years, and I use now a Canon 50D and a set of Sigma prime lenses (70mm, 30mm, 10mm), plus a couple of flashguns.
Cheers! :-)
