I have been shooting for almost a year now. I got into photography in May 2010. I like shooting macro, wildlife and people but my favorite is landscape. My favorite photographer right now is Art Wolfe and then probably Peter Lik. I like Art Wolfe because he has mastered pretty much all genres of photography and has been able to create a business from doing something he loves.
My Photography Equipment:
Currently I am using a Canon T2i body, a Canon 18-55mm lens, a Canon 55-250mm lens, and a Tamron 60mm macro lens.
Thanks Torrey! I used to adore macro photography but have not done much lately at all. I am always disappointed with what I get when I try it now. I think too that our weather is often way too windy and the insect or flower or whatever is going in and out of focus to the point of frustration. I need to try some flowers or something that is not moving out of the wind, perhaps on my porch, and then see what I can create. Lately, I am using my wide-angle almost exclusively for landscapes with a twist. I love looking for the unique perspective. Keep 'em coming! Celebrate life, Debra
I just got notice from a show that we entered that was juried that 2 of my works were accepted. There were many photos submitted and a few only had 1 accepted but several had 3 or 4. I am noticing that with shows and such, most jurors tend to accept more artsy work and very little landscape work, unfortunately for me. Sometimes I feel that I need to change my style a bit but then we also do art shows, and you really need to think, What is going to look good on the wall behind someone's couch? ;) I guess in the end, you have to snap what pleases you and makes you happy. Photography is our passion and our way of finding peace and joy in our art. I have had the advice several times to do what makes you happy and to stay true to your art. So, I need to take that advice and just keep doing what I am doing. If others appreciate it, great! If not, oh well, at least I am enjoying it myself. I also think that as the months progress, so does our photographic work. When I look back on even just one year ago, I can see that I have evolved and have a better and better eye, as well as better editing skills. Let's plow on and see what the next months bring! BTW, I find that when I am feeling stale, viewing others' excellent work inspires me! Celebrate life, Debra
Thanks Torrey! Sometimes when we view our own work over and over, we get sick of it. I had that last night and felt like it was all crap. ;) I am developing my editing skills more and more and learning new stuff every day. Thanks for your kind words!
"Hey Ron,
Saw your note in the friend request, but can't seem to find it again. I think it was along the lines of gear unique to night photography. A solid, stable tripod is critical. A remote shutter and a flashlight so that you can see in the…"
"Would love to Lalit, really would, but i had to have my heart valves replaced a little while back and nothing seems to work like it used to anymore, it prolongs your life, but does not restore it."
