- About Me and My Photography Experience:
- I have always had an artistic eye, and the camera was just another way to capture the world. I really love shooting PEOPLE, but there really isn't anything that I don't try to view through the camera lens. I shoot with a NIKON D90. I do NOT use any professional lighting. Just a reflector and flash. I want to learn more about lighting techniques and get inspired by others on this site.
How I got my photography name:
My father, Russ Syracuse, was a radio announcer in San Francisco, CA for years, and went by the radio name "RUSS the MOOSE". He retired in the early 1980's and took up photography. He traveled to Europe for most of his photography. Soon after he retired, I got married and had a couple kids. My daughter was on a photograph taken by my dad and it was sold on cards all over the San Franciso area in stores called Papyrus. My father told me to have her do some modeling. Well, sadly my dad passed away. He never did see that my daughter did become a model and that I also became a photographer. So in honor of my dad, I use my maiden name
"Syracuse" as the name of my photography. I know my father is with me for every shoot I do. He would be so proud. Funny thing is that we like completely different styles of photography--He was more into fine art and travel, and I love to shoot people.
So there you have it: Syracuse Image Photography
My dad also once told me....you know you are in the right job, when you love it so much you actually kind of feel guilty for getting paid--He is so right!

I am actually a labour law consultant. Been interested in photography since 1986. Never really took it up with such passion as I couldn't afford an SLR. Then luck changed and got my 1st Ricoh kR 10m. It got stolen and was replaced by insurance. Unfortunately the 2nd one also got stolen in 2000. Only recently in 2009 did I acquire a small Samsung compact. A year later I bought my daughter a small Nikon compact. With the 2 cameras I had taken an amount of about 36 000 photographs since 2009. I am saving up for a DSLR. Luckily I have a friend that let me use her Canon EOS 500D. Thank you so much for your compliment.
