Had this been a shot of a row of flowers without the people and the hanging things at the top of the photo, I would say the dof works nicely. Also, the white balance seems a little warm. I guess I'm just reiterating what everyone else already…
Thanks for the responses - Bob, Ian and Mike. I haven't yet developed a sense for what constitutes good DOF and I've noticed that I tend to keep it very shallow all the time.

Nice color and DOF. The left corner up bothers me a little, but that's just me. Try some different angles next time if you haven't already. I may shoot our farmer's market after seeing this. Great shot.
I am an engineer with diverse interests. I am relatively new to photography. My interest in photography grew out of a work-related project I was doing earlier this year. I read a lot many photography blogs including strobist and DPS. I like shooting people.
Of late, I've been doing a lot of photowalks. They're great because I've found that I've dragged myself out to explore places that I otherwise wouldn't. Meeting other photography enthusiasts has been the highlight. I've also managed to shoot some fairly decent pictures over the weeks.

Thank you again, Deborah! This is part of a State park called Putnam Park. It is part Revolutionary War museum and part trail system. I can only do part of the trail system (back injury) but it is a really beautiful place!
