I think the saturation is fine. The sun's pretty harsh on her though with washed-out spots on the peaks of her cheeks. etc. I would change the format to a portrait instead of landscape. There's nothing interesting in the background to…

Nice comparison of realistic colors vs adding dramatic effects.

I tried to add warmth and de-emphasize the background a little. I have a tendency to over-do the adjustments but I'm working on it.

Ervintha, this is a new experience for me. We were there at the same time and and we were looking at the same sky. And see how different our approaches. Very nice, thank you for posting your shot here!

Great cat they are so much fun to shoot! I usually go with a flash indoors to really bring out the fur. I also try and keep one on a tripod ready to go when they sleep in their favorite places. Of course it also helps if you have one that loves…

Certified beginner here. ;-)

Where is comes to photography and camera controls, I'm a beginner.

I selected the Nikon Coolpix L20 because it got decent reviews and it's nicely priced for a starter.

My goal is to understand the options of my camera better, I will use the camera when I'm with people on hikes and walks or social events like board playing nights.
I hope for gorgeous scenery and group activity pictures.

My first priority is not picture composition, but gaining technical understanding of the camera itself.

Perhaps later I start with composition and who knows a more professional is available for me.

Thank you very much for your warm welcome.

Hi Wilbert :-)

Well, someone has to start at some point right? ;-) Well, that depends on what you want to achieve. Try using the pre-set options on your camera first and if you like try and play with the manual settings. Play around with those, I'm sure you'll find your personal preferences after a few shots ;-) You can also see those in the discussion forums here, if not, just ask! I'm sure the members will gladly help you out! Welcome to the site, and have fun Wilbert! :-D
