One starting place you can try are these settings I use for weddings. All of these settings are dependent on using a speedlight either in the hot shoe, on a bracket or off camera at a lateral length of no more than 2 feet from the camera. Speedlight…

Cold Weather Photography Gloves?

Thumbnail
Greetings all, I was curious to know what you all use for gloves in the cold weather? I've tried these two which are thin and have proven to be ineffective in cold weather for more than a few minutes:http://www.amazon.com/Ardinbir-Breathable-Waterproof-Panasonic-Camcorder/dp/B0047OK5BO…See More

I was the same way when I first started photography. Why edit a photo and make it fake? But then I realize that you can still edit the photo and make it more how you originally saw the scene since with some cameras it's difficult to recreate…

Looking for constructive criticism on these two

Thumbnail
Hey all,I took these at work this morning (I work in a factory) did some editing and was curious to see what your thoughts are. The first one built the contrast up a bunch and added some noise to it for a more rugged feel, and added a little vignette. The second, I also built up the contrast and used un-sharp mask (maybe a little heavy on the unsharp mask, idk.) Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance!…See More

About Me and My Photography Experience:
General:
My name is Bill Dabovich, I'm 25 years old and studying photography and criminal justice at College of DuPage. I've been taking photos since I was 15 and professionally since I was 19. I shoot weddings, portraits (all ages), sports, photojournalism, nature/wildlife and special events.

Professional Experience:
I worked as a staff photographer for the St. Ambrose University newspaper: The Buzz. I also worked as a stringer for the College of DuPage newspaper: The Courier. Currently I'm a manager and the Senior Photographer at the Yorktown Mall Picture People studio in Lombard, IL. I've been working for the Picture People for just over two years. Ialso, just started training to be an independent contractor for Studio 3 Productions in St. Charles, IL for wedding photography.

I love talking with fellow photographers and love to have my photos critiqued with constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement; I feel that's the best way to grow as a photographer!

Hey William. There are a lot of amazing light painters; what you see on my page is rather simple. Suspend a flashlight aimed downward, from the ceiling, with a string; I used the bedroom, so I could use the bed to steady the camera.  The flashlight should be about halfway between ceiling and bed. The camera is directly below the flashlight aimed straight up. Turn on the flashlight and swing it (this is where I turned off the bedroom light). I found an oval path better than a circular one for the swinging flashlight. My exposures were around 60 seconds. Play around with exposure settings, path and height of the swinging flashlight... most importantly have fun!
