I usually use a wide lens at the smallest apeture like f/22. I like low light so I regularly have the camera on a tripod and I'm triggering w/ a remote. I'll meter two ways, first when the light is more abundant I'll use the full sensor metering. Then I'll spot meter then sun for sunets. Thats pretty much it. If I can suggest this......set your camera on apeture priority and set it to a small one.....the shutter speeed will take care of itself. I will do that in a pinch. Finally when I know an area I'm going to shoot I'll show up early to take the shot will normal light and then low light.
Your models photos are gorgeous! And your sunset photo isn't bad either, I just happened to be at the right place at the right time the day I shot mine.
