Great capture, Kathy. The B&W really adds to the photo. It may have well been a staged photo because with the exception of Rob's suggestion of a bounced light into the child's face, every other aspect looks good to me. Well done.

thank you, this is my grandson and daughter and it was not a staged photo she just picked him up and was consoling him and i snapped it at the right time, i hadn't even thought about the bounce light, but i can see where it would have made the…

Hi Kathy,
This is a tender moment but the lighting is not really in keeping with this.
Flash from flashguns are pretty harsh and for this image soft bounced light would be much better.
Hope this helps a little.

Nice photo. It shows the special connection between a mother and child. The only suggestion I would have is to reflect, or bouce a little light into the baby's face eliminating some of that shadow. Otherwise, I really like it.
