I’m Bullish on Black and White Photography
It’s three a.m. Something by Bach or Mozart is playing softly in the background. An image of “Morning Light on the Towers, Needles District” is slowly appearing on the piece of paper I am gently massaging in a tray of chemicals under the soft amber glow of a safelight. The fan of my enlarger hums softly in the background. In my mind, this is what…

Part of the reason that there's some duplicates is because I uploaded folders and not individual photos. However I looked through may latest uploads and there are more dupes than there should be. It may be a glitch in the software here. I do appreciate you bringing this to my attention. Thanks.
Hmm, I don't know how that "%29" got added but if you take that off then the link will work fine, otherwise here is a working link

Hi Nathan. I like your stuff. Wish you all the best. Fiat Frost
Haha, thanks Nathan. I agree, its due time I upload a more cheerful photo. I actually did that picture for another project, so it required a serious face. I'll get to work on that happy face soon ;)
Take care!
Nathan, that image is just perfect. The dad's reaction sums everything up, that'll be an image they treasure forever, undoubtedly. Thanks for sharing the final edit, I was very interested in how it was going to turn out. I understand your lack of enthusiasm with Topaz. Its rare that I use it myself, as far as plug-ins go I much more prefer Nik Soft's Color Efex Pro. Every once in a while Topaz has some merit though, again I admit I stole that idea from Matt Kloskowski. He mentions in his book that using the Portrait Drama filter is one way that he finishes quite a few images. I find Topaz to be a little over the top for most stuff though.
Your upcoming projects sound amazing, especially the Buffalo Soldier. I hope someone has written down his stories, personal experiences and history. There would be so much in his head that will be lost when he passes on. I'm sure you will find him interesting and inspiring in so many ways.
One regret that I've always carried is that I never wrote down the stories my Grandfather used to tell from time to time. He was one of Canada's first bush pilots, and was far too humble, even though he flew and worked alongside of some very famous and notable names. He had several offers from author's to write his story but always turned them down, being very private about his life. Sadly a great deal of Canada's aviation history died with him that day.
Best of luck on your new undertakings, I hope I'll see some of those shots too!
Dan
Both are on my bucket list. I think Machu Picchu is first for me. If I could get to Alaska in the fall and spend a month there I'd very content. For now it's all about places I can drive to.
Keep shooting
Thanks Nathan, much appreciated. I hope you post the finished work, I'd be very interested in seeing and hearing what the family's input was and in your final outcome.
Hi Nathan, it was taken in Jogjakarta. Thanks for liking it.
Very true! That is some dedication right there hauling all that weight around. But, you do capture some VERY beautiful and unique scenes so in the end its worth it.
I gotta ask as a fellow outdoor photographer. How heavy is that camera of yours?
