About Me and My Photography Experience:: Why Did You Choose Photomanipulation?

A recent group discussion in one of my Flickr groups asked the question of why did you choose photo manipulation as a career or art form? I thought I would share my response and then ask you to continue the discussion by posting your own replies. I find it fascinating that even though are reasons are as diverse as our personalities, we all share the common theme of passion for creating something new and beautiful.

MY RESPONSE TO WHY DID YOU CHOOSE PHOTOMANIPULATION

As a teen mom it took many, many years for me to get past being a ‘statistic’ and to find the path that I needed to be on. I had job after job that I hated but the one underlying theme was that I always found myself drawn time and time again to computer programs and editing in particular.

About 8 years ago I met the love of my life and in the process discovered “what I wanted to be when I grew up!” lol Being able to be a stay at home mom gave me the opportunity at last to focus on learning computer programs like Photoshop and in the process I learned that I wasn’t half bad at it. (lol)

I started with commercial graphic design projects and while I was successful at it, my heart really lay in the art of creating unique and different pieces of art. I have slowly gotten away from creating business cards and brochures and in turn have put more effort into creating the art that is so dear to me. So far I have not had the same success in selling my services on the artistic side that I did in the graphic design side but I am determined that I won’t give up. Not having had the chance to go to school or receive any real training has been a blessing and a curse but it has doubled my motivation to prove to myself and others that despite the boulders and potholes that you encounter on life’s path when you have a true passion for something, you have to keep pushing forward no matter what the outcome!

My Photography Equipment:: Just got my Canon Rebel XTI. I LOVE IT!!!! I am having so much fun taking photos!

Catching Up....Adding New Images

What a crazy few months it has been. Haven't been able to get on as often as I would like. Thank you to all who have recently added comments on my page. I really appreciate it!

I am hopeful that everyone will get a chance to check out my 16 year old daughters charity called KidsRock4Kids when the have a chance. This is a fantastic group of local teenagers who are working hard to make a difference in their hometown of Washington, IL and across the globe in Northern Uganda. I am so very proud of all of these kids!

A Worthy Cause....

Below is a blurb from my 15 year old daughter who is working hard to raise money for the Schools for Schools program that provides educational supplies and tools for teachers in students in Uganda. I do not normally solicit for causes on the web, however, I am so proud of what she is trying to accomplish that I am bending the rules just a bit this time and posting her website on my various networking boards.
