We all use filters for our lenses, at least on DSLRs.  Many of the fixed lens type cameras don't have filter threads which I guess is because the typical buyers are mostly doing snap shots.  I hope that changes.  If you want to get a very high quality multi coated filter and save some money I have a recommendation for you.
