Puja (or Pooja) in Rishikesh India

Faces of the world - India Rishikesh - Puja ceremony -In Buddhism, puja are expressions of "honour, worship and devotional attention Acts of puja include bowing, making offerings and chanting. These devotional acts are generally performed daily at home (either in the morning or evening or both) as well as during communal festivals and Uposatha days at a temple. P?j? or alternative transliteration Pooja, (Sanskrit: reverence, honour, adoration, or worship) is a religious ritual performed by Hindus as an offering to various deities, distinguished persons, or special guests. It is done on a variety of occasions and settings, from daily puja done in the home, to temple ceremonies and large festivals, or to begin a new venture. Puja is modeled on the idea of giving a gift or offering to a deity or important person and receiving their blessing. The two main areas where puja is performed is in the home and at public temples. There are many variations in scale, offering, and ceremony. Puja is also performed on special occasions such as Durga Puja and Lakshmi Puja. The puja ceremony in Rishikesh starts daily 30 minutes before sunset Rishikesh also spelled Hrishikesh, Rushikesh, or Hrushikesh, is a city and a municipal board in Dehradun district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.It is surrounded by two other districts namely Tehri Garhwal and Pauri Garhwal. It is located in the foothills of the Himalaya in northern India and attracts thousands of pilgrims and tourists each year, from within India, as well as from other countries. Rishikesh is a vegetarian city by law, as well as an alcohol-free city. Rishikesh is also known as "Teerth Nagri" or "Yog Nagri" or "Yoga City", that is City of Temples, Yoga and Meditation It is also known as the gateway to the Himalayas and is located around 25 kilometres north of another holy city, Haridwar. CAPTURING PEOPLE AT WORK.
