CML is a cancer of the blood. In people with CML, there is a disruption in the process that governs the normal life cycle of white blood cells. As a result, too many white blood cells develop.CML became one of the most well-understood cancers when a gene mutation called the Philadelphia chromosome was discovered more than 40 years ago. Since then treatments such as high dose chemotherapy with stem cell transplantation and targeted therapies have improved long-term outcome and survival. But even given these remarkable advances, more CML treatment research is needed.

Imatinib, or Gleevec, is a targeted anti-cancer drug that can keep chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) in check for most patients for many years. It is important for patients to take imatinib as prescribed by their doctor to fight the disease and to guard against resistance.

That disease has not stopped your wonderful photographs. Glad to hear that they have some control over this type of disease. My wife had breast cancer almost 10 yrs ago and with treatment she is doing fine. No signs of cancer since her chemo. Thank God.

Mario, how come you put this article on? Do you have this? Are you studying to be a doctor? I've never heard of the disease. Thanks for informing me of yet another disease we must fight.
