The Photography Network - PictureSocial

So its been a while since ive uploaded anything. Thats becuase I am deployed to Afghanistan currently and cant wait to get back home safe and share the photos i have taken with every one.

However i need some help while i am here. I am shooting with 1DS Mark ii which is great how ever i am having issue with my sensor. Its dirty and the container i packed my sensor cleaning kit is no longer getting shipped and i need to clean my sensor bad. Any suggestions to how i can clean the sensor would be much appreciated.

Shoot wide open and the dirt will usually not be visible.

I use a couple of methods for cleaning my sensors.  One method employs a product that has a sticky plastic piece on the end of a stick.  Pressed against the sensor then pulled off, the dirt sticks to the plastic instead of the sensor.  The plastic is cleaned by pressing it against the sticky side of an address label.  The other method is to use a lint free cloth, a pek pad, wrapped around a rubber spatula that was cut down to the size of a sensor, lubricated with Eclipse fluid, rubbing alcohol would probably work too.  One swipe of the cloth, per cloth.

A blower bulb or other source of low pressure compressed air can blow off grit that has not stuck too tightly yet, but won't remove the stuck on stuff.  High pressure air might damage the sensor.
