Back from Africa Part 2 Still on the water

Male Elephants grow to a height of 11 feet, can weigh up to 6.5 tons and claim the status of the biggest land mammal their tusks are the most dense organic material on earth so when you see these guys play fighting its best to keep well clear even if you are a hippo !!

The Elephants can be dangerous if they feel threatened especially if the group contains young as this group did then the male can become quite bad tempered resulting in our second charge (but not the last) this time I new better than to hang about but he followed us deep into the water with plenty of dramatic thrashing splashing and trumpeting

One of the best reasons to stay well clear is even if not a direct hit if the boat was overturned you would be faced as I mentioned earlier with a much more scary fellow The Nile Croc These I must admit scared the shirt out of me and although the biggest I saw was about 9 feet they have been seen in this area as large as 18 feet long so sorry folks if the quality is not quite as good on these following shots but this was quite close enough Not only can they run very fast but blend in to the surroundings far too well and check those teeth

Next time Hippo and the Visitors in the night
