I can't wait to get back to the mountains.

Recently I just found out that July 3rd through the 10th I will be in Silverthorne, Colorado. I was wondering where the best places would be to go to get some amazing pictures. I will also be in Breckenridge, Colorado about half the time. I'm not sure where all we will be going. But no matter what I will always have my Nikon with me! Also I was wondering if anyone had any tips on photography for fireworks. Like what kind of exposure and everything.
Thanks everyone!

Thank-you Nathan. Actually I can see Dillon Lake from where I am staying. But I don't have a good enough lens to get that far!
But my uncle said he wants to try and get me out there to one of the lookout points to take some pictures!

Look at a good map, find a meadow and get there about an hour before sunrise. If I remember correctly Silverthorne is in the mountains above Dillon Lake; magnificent country. This time of year any place in the mountains in Colorado is better than anyplace else. If you are going to photograph fireworks put your camera on a tripod set your exposure time to B or T. Open the shutter and leave it open until you get some fireworks. An interesting technique is to set your camera for multiple exposure then do what I've just told you
I don't know if you can do this technique with digital. It is how it is done with film. Just make sure the sky is black when you do it. Do several exposures on one frame Set your aperture at about f-11 or 16 at ASA 100 and you should be able to get some cool stuff

Thank you so much Linda!
I'm going to check it out once I get done packing. Can't wait to get to the mountains again but I HATE the drive there.
