Incredible Lightning Photo in the Suburbs

This photo was taken by Jason Husband who said: "Sometimes it pays to be lucky. Granted, though I did not get the whole lightning strike in this shot, I still think it might be my favorite lightning shot I have taken of all time. This is straight out of the camera, no cropping, no light adjustments, nothing. If I had a wide angle lens, this would have been spectacular. Maineville, Ohio 6-15-08. Note: For those who are wondering, A) This is not fake. I would not know how to make something like this if my life depended on it. B) The white spots are not stars, but rain drops. This shot is real and straight out of the camera as I said above.

Comment by Todd Beltz on December 11, 2008 at 9:57am: Hmm...looks like another fake...although a very well made one. Those are stars in the sky, not raindrops. In order for lightening to strike, their would have to be storm clouds but yet we see a perfectly clear night with no clouds in sight. Another thing to add. Rain would not be illuminated like this, especially in the far distance. Only if it was up close, which in this picture is not the case. Doesn't it seem odd the if it were raindrops that it's very bright so far up in the sky? Beautiful the way it was created but a fake nonetheless.

Comment by Jon Olivier on December 9, 2008 at 9:25am: Andy, I was thinking the same thing. The picture is rather suspect to me. I looked at the EXIF data and it says nothing of the camera used or settings, etc.
