i really like the park photo, and for me the sepia works well. I love the light in this one, and the diagonal shadows it creates which (in my humble opinion) guide you around the picture and along the path.

Ths flower photo is very soft.  There are times when a soft photo works but with a close-up of a flower, I don't feel it's the time.

The best of luck to you in your exciting photographic journey.

Thank you CameraClicker I appreciate how constructive you are, I shall take a note and revisit both, I used the sepia because it was a really bright hot morning , I take your point about what the view should be, however I do have to disagree re my camera and soft focus, I worked in P for some time before deciding I needed help to work out how to improve my skills using Manual mode rather than relying on the camera, and have taken some lovely pic's with soft focus, but time will tell ;-0

Your camera has exceptional optics for a P&S camera.  It seems to be geared to the sports and nature enthusiast.  The lens focal length range is 4.3 (W) - 215.0 (T) mm.  The aperture is not particularly fast, though, being f/3.4 (W), f/6.5 (T).  As you get into the course, you may find a little camera works against you when you try to get soft focus backgrounds.

I'm not sure sepia works for the park photo, but I have never been a fan of sepia photos.  There are a few B&W photos that I think are exceptional but again, I don't appreciate the vast majority of them.

As far as the park photo, there is a nice leading line at the left side of the path, but from where the photo was taken there is a tree in the way of my view!  I'm not sure what I am supposed to be seeing.

The flower photo is not sharp.  That might be because the shutter speed was only 1/13th, which is very slow if you are holding the camera and/or there is potential for your subject to move.
