Jack, I'm moving up from the E-500 to the E-3 for lots a reasons. First, I like a large body camera, it has IS built into the body, the view finder is much larger with 100% coverage. My eyes aren't what the used to be when I was a photographer in the Navy. And I'm an Olympus man.

I use that lens for everything except birds, for that I use the 50-200mm SWD (rarely) They both focus quicker and better than any other lenses on the market.

I don't know what I would use that lens for. I shoot birds so I'm using mostly long lenses. Plus that 12-60mm is like $900.00

I have one and it is OK, but if you get with 12-60mm SWD lens then it is super.
