I finally took the plunge. I did all my last photo shoot in raw format. I love the choices and results you get when shooting in raw. Thank you all for pushing me forward.
I admit that on most occasions I shoot jpeg and rarely switch over to RAW unless the situation is critical or I'm at a loss as to what exposure to shoot at. The only time that I can think of that I given it some serious thought was when President Obama was then Senator. I am so happy that I had the fore thought to utilize RAW at that time.
I am a student of the zone system and shoot both fillm and digital. And I use both jpeg and RAW accordingly.

I have to say that I disagree with Rob on this one. When I got my first DSLR a few years back I shot with jpeg too. Once I started shooting inn RAW, there was no going back! For me its like using butter or margarine. Shooting in RAW gives you so much more control and lets the camera capture far more detail and dynamic range. I guess jpeg is fine if you are taking snaps, but for me I can't think of a reason or time that I would ever shoot in jpeg - but thats just me! :)

I shoot mostly RAW when it's something critical. However, if I'm just out for a casual shoot, I'll go back to a large, hi-rez JPG. I do this for two reasons. First, it forces me to work more to get the best possible shot in the camera which should be every photographers goal. Second, I don't have to work every image just to get a reasonable looking image. RAW will always look a little flat, until it processed, even compared to the jpg image you see on your LCD since that is already a jpg anyway.
