I was recently banned from deviantART, a community I had previously loved and appreciated.
I had been a member for over 6 years, until I had questioned an administrator privately about their reasoning for awarding a low quality snapshot of Barack Obama their "Daily Deviation" award, giving the photo a 24 hour spotlight on their front page. This is an award that many of the millions of members of deviantART want, and it was given to a photo that wasn't even art. They had awarded the photo simply because it was of Barack Obama, and the administrator, chix0r, returned my questioning by being sarcastic, unprofessional, and rude. I told her that an art community should not support politics.
Should an art community look like a news journal, or serve as a haven for artists to get away from the world?
Other people had the same question that I did, and I spread the exact conversation chix0r and I had had. I was, in turn, banned by her. She covered up her reasoning with lies, like I was spamming the art, insulting the artist, etc, which was entirely untrue. I took the case up with two other admins, and they fully supported my side. However, they were unable to do anything about it, and I was still banned for two weeks.
I came here hoping that this community isn't corrupt like deviantART. I hope it's not!
