Advanced Hair Selection in Photoshop

In this video we will cover using channels to cleanly cut out complex hair selections of both brunette and blonde hair on a studio style background and an outdoor scene. You will learn a lot about how to select things in Photoshop using the techniques displayed in this video which will aid you in selecting many different things, not just hair.

When brushing in the mask with either black or white.. set the mode of your brush to : Overlay

This way you can 'go over the edges'.. if your brushing in the black you wont b able to 'paint' over white (255) and if you are painting white you wont be able to go over pure black e.g. Good for getting rid of those midtones at 20:10 in the video when you already have a pure white edge your trying not to 'paint' over when filling in black.
