The Photography Network - PictureSocial

I have always enjoyed flowers.....photographing, smelling, marveling at, and in some cases, eating them. On PictureSocial there must be several thousand images of flowers. So......why not a group and a place to show your most treasured images of flowers. I'm very lucky, my wife plants them, feeds them, waters them, trims them and even starts them with her magical green thumb. I on the other hand,...........(. - )

Mike, the first photo, absolutely stunning job. Your composition on it is quite astounding for a natural growth flower.

Image 1968 appears to be blue flax. Here's a lighter colored version I took out in the sticks. Lotz of nice photos showing up...

Richard, all of your posts are very well done. Naming them makes it easy for all to learn.

Tim, absolutely great photos. Flowers have so much color and texture, no wonder I like to photograph them. Thanks.

You have two of my favorites The Clematis and the columbine. Great photos.

Here's a rhododendron bloom I cut for my kitchen window. This is my favorite time of year mostly because of these blooms. I just read somewhere that wild rhododendron are considered an invasive species in some parts of our world.

Patrica I don't know about that but in Pennsylvania they are wild and are throughout the forest. Now, for your photo of one. I am familiar with the wild ones and they are the same color but yours are very frilly.

As an added: I was going through my wifes flower catalogs and came across a Clematis called Pink Parasol. Have you ever seen one? I'm just wondering if it would grow up here in Maine?

I have a pic of a clematis but I am not at all familiar with their growth patterns.

As I drove through the forest in BC last week I saw a huge pink cluster of Rhododendron growing just off the road in a gully. My guess it that the bush was 12 feet high and 15 feet across. Didn't bother to stop and investigate.

The one in the catalog is very frilly like the iris you uploaded, not at all like the above picture.
