Image 1968 appears to be blue flax. Here's a lighter colored version I took out in the sticks. Lotz of nice photos showing up...

Patrica I don't know about that but in Pennsylvania they are wild and are throughout the forest. Now, for your photo of one. I am familiar with the wild ones and they are the same color but yours are very frilly.

As an added: I was going through my wifes flower catalogs and came across a Clematis called Pink Parasol. Have you ever seen one? I'm just wondering if it would grow up here in Maine?

The one in the catalog is very frilly like the iris you uploaded, not at all like the above picture.
