I'm not for sure but I think that the XTi can only use up to "Extreme II" CF cards. But my best thought would be to check your user manual and/or Canon's web site for trouble shooting on this mater.

Carla, according to the XTi manual your camera will not work with a type III card. Also, read your manual on resetting the camera's functions. This may help by clearing your settings. One other thing, See that your other card will be read by your computer. If so, save your photos and then place the card back into your camera and reformat the card. Hope this helps.

Ok well i had a regular CF card it was just a 2 gb it read busy. I also have a ultra11 1.o GB and it does the same.. Will it mess up my XTI if i continue to use this new extreme 111 and the quaility of my photo's?? Thanks Carla

Very good. I will keep this for my own reference as I too have an XTI.

You are using the popup flash? Also, if you are reading busy on the dial, but the CF access light is not on, it is not the card. For shots one after the other, i would recommend a quickly charging external flash.

HI Everyone. I have had the same thing happen to me also. I will keep in mind about the popup flash, although the flash wasn't being used. I do have the external flash (580EX) but it wasn't on. I will keep Nitro's comment in Thanks!

Another place to look for is the format you have selected for the photo. Sometimes if you set the mode to RAW or RAW+JPG, the camera may get a little busy. But this may be unavoidable in certain circumstances when you must shoot RAW. However, sometimes i set the mode to RAW for a few pics and forget to turn back to jpeg. (high capacity storage can sometimes spoil us) :-)
