How do you calibrating your monitors?

Does anybody use any display calibration tool (ColorVision Spyder or similar device)? If so are you satisfied with the results? Is it worth having? Does it really bring an advantage over simple software tools like Adobe Gamma?

Thanks for your help.

Yurick,

I bought the PANTONE® Huey Pro and it really does work well. My prints now come out looking like they do on the screen. I got the info from Cordell I believe. I had seen it before, but was skeptical. I am a believer now.

you really must calibrate your monitor. and frequently. colors shift a little bit every day and it's really ideal to calibrate at least once a week, especially if you use a laptop. your eye just can't properly adjust for color and if you want the best prints that are always consistent then calibration is a must!

Some great info... I'm glad I stopped by. I saw an ad for the Huey in PCPhoto and planned to look a little further into it.... you've all sold me on it. We have two pc's set up... one is our baby that we do all our editing and printing from, it's never online. The other is online. It frustrates me to no end when I transfer pics from the baby to this one so I can post... they are never as nice. hmmm... we both have birthdays coming up.... a huey might be a perfect present !

I also have the PANTONE® huey pro. My only tip is that if you have two monitors you must get the pro version. I initially bought the regular huey and then had to upgrade to the pro. It's totally worth it for having the colors be true.

Jennifer,

You can pick them up at most Office Depot stores. I got mine online, you can always do a search and find them at various online stores. I bought mine from the URL below:

You can check out Pantone's website - Pantone

or

Ask at your local professional camera supply store. I live in Seattle so I bought mine at Glazers. Then when I realized I needed the Pro version I bought it on-line on Pantone's website.
