About FoToEdge

FoToEdge
Where are you from?
Excelsior Springs, Missouri
About Me:
I think we are afflicted with the same ailment! I've spent 5 hours today 7-7-07 wandering Lexington, Missouri and along the Missouri River Road. This is a place that is as old as the hills! It is Musty & Moldy with scaly Bricks and plenty of driftwood and Rust! I feel drawn to many of these places. It takes me hours to travel 2 or 3 Miles. Most of my friends hate to travel with me, they say I am a pain in the ass! I dream of these old images all the time, I previsualize them before I get to the location. This new group, William Christenberry Road Group, brings all the lunatics together in one place. Now I can quickly get my Fix of these Crusty, Lush Images!
Somedays I just have to drown in the Richness and Blur of Colors and Grittiness of our world. I want to grab and squeeze all the intensity and glow on to the inkjet paper. Remember as a kid, you caught fireflies and put them in a bottle with holes cut throught the lid for air? This is what I dream of capturing in my photographs, when I shut off the lights, I want the glow of the captured images to glow in my mind and I hope, in my audiences' eyes.
I find a common thread in my travel adventures in the NorthEast, South & Midwest. Once you leave the large city areas, you find the real texture and colors of these regions. There is so much peacefulness and friendly people along the Roadways. If you haven't traveled the backroads, you will be in for a treat when you hit the road.
I really have never had a boring trip in "Any" State. The parallel Old Roads are rich with Interesting Textures, Smells, People, Grit, Foods, FarmProduce, Speed Traps, & just a Great Time! There are no Boring Places, it's all about Attitude & Priorities!
I have become aware with passage of the years that the true, dedicated photographer is a lonely figure, hunting the image, always with a hair trigger finger on the shutter, Ready to pounce and capture the moment for eternity.
Favorite Photographers: I have many plus many more!
Here are several of the ones that come quickly to my mind..
Walker Evans is my top choice! Diane Arbus is my 2nd Choice! Growing up in the NYC, NJ, & Eastern PA area, gave me the chance to visit many sites of thier pictures such as Allentown PA, Greenwich Village, 42nd Street, All of Lower Manhattan & Phillipsburg NJ . These areas are still rich in the pictures many of us have an "Eye" for. If you don't know the work of some of these photographers, Google them and you will find some Beautiful Images! Keith Carter, David Plowden, William Christenberry, George Tice, Jack Spencer, Burk Uzzle, Art Sinsabaugh, Elliott Erwitt, Robert Frank, Wright Morris, Todd Webb, Bernice Abbott, Dorothea Lange, Ben Shahn, Margaret Bourke-White, Charles Sheeler, Clarence John Laughlin, Andre Kertesz, Brett Weston, Johan Hagemeyer, Karl Struss, Ralph Steiner, Lisette Model, Joel Meyerowitz, William Eggleston, Arthur Tress, Joel Sternfeld and Jeff Brouws. I am sure that you will see much of what you like to photograph in the work of these photographers
What Photography Equipment do you Use?
Canon 40D and Canon G-9 both in RAW plus the best Jpeg files at the same time.
Breezebrowser Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop CS2, PaintShopPro X2, Picasa, Alien Skin Exposure
Negatives and Prints scanned to Digital files from 1967-present
