I am an avid canoe-camping nature photographer, still trying to figure out how to make a living at it. I spend most of my spare time on the Potomac River, anywhere from Cumberland, MD down to Swain's Lock, which is just upstream from Great Falls (just outside of Washington, D.C.). I camp on any of the hundreds of little islands scattered along the way, trying for those located on an East West stretch of the river. The low light of dawn and late afternoon on the river are surreal.
I shoot film and digital, but prefer the challenge of true darkroom work to that of post processing. Waiting anxiously at the end of the processor is half the fun!
With any luck, I'll make it another year without dumping the canoe and all of my gear with it.

Thanks for the nice words. I do hang out with a photographer, I call hijm Dad......lol. He's on this site too.
He is the one who suggested I join. His name is Keith Willette. Hes the photographer with his arms crossed on the tree in black and white.........you know, the one that looks like me :)
I have been shooting landscapes and portraits for over a year now and have really been enjoying it trememdously. Unfortunately, I do not have any photos of the Blue Train, but if and when I see it, I will try my best to get some for you.
Thanks Tom for the comments on the G9 they are most helpful, it's nice to know I haven't bought a camera I am going to reget in a few months down the line, especially as I wouldn't really don't have a clue which one to go for and what to look for in a camera.
